(SELECT * FROM a, b, c WHERE something) AS ss Experimentation is recommended.Ī closely related issue that affects planning time is collapsing of subqueries into their parent query. If the planner chooses a bad join order by default, you can force it to choose a better order via JOIN syntax - assuming that you know of a better order, that is. In this example, the number of possible join orders is reduced by a factor of 5.Ĭonstraining the planner's search in this way is a useful technique both for reducing planning time and for directing the planner to a good query plan. With join_collapse_limit = 1, this forces the planner to join A to B before joining them to other tables, but doesn't constrain its choices otherwise. SELECT * FROM a CROSS JOIN b, c, d, e WHERE. You do not need to constrain the join order completely in order to cut search time, because it's OK to use JOIN operators within items of a plain FROM list. (Other possible values are discussed below.) To force the planner to follow the join order laid out by explicit JOINs, set the join_collapse_limit run-time parameter to 1. This effect is not worth worrying about for only three tables, but it can be a lifesaver with many tables. SELECT * FROM a JOIN (b JOIN c ON (b.ref = c.id)) ON (a.id = b.id) īut if we tell the planner to honor the JOIN order, the second and third take less time to plan than the first. SELECT * FROM a CROSS JOIN b CROSS JOIN c WHERE a.id = b.id AND b.ref = c.id For example, these three queries are logically equivalent: Most practical cases involving LEFT JOIN or RIGHT JOIN can be rearranged to some extent.Įxplicit inner join syntax ( INNER JOIN, CROSS JOIN, or unadorned JOIN) is semantically the same as listing the input relations in FROM, so it does not constrain the join order.Įven though most kinds of JOIN don't completely constrain the join order, it is possible to instruct the PostgreSQL query planner to treat all JOIN clauses as constraining the join order anyway. Currently, only FULL JOIN completely constrains the join order. It is valid to join A to either B or C first. SELECT * FROM a LEFT JOIN b ON (a.bid = b.id) LEFT JOIN c ON (a.cid = c.id) In other cases, the planner might be able to determine that more than one join order is safe. Accordingly, this query takes less time to plan than the previous query. Therefore the planner has no choice of join order here: it must join B to C and then join A to that result. SELECT * FROM a LEFT JOIN (b JOIN c ON (b.ref = c.id)) ON (a.id = b.id) Īlthough this query's restrictions are superficially similar to the previous example, the semantics are different because a row must be emitted for each row of A that has no matching row in the join of B and C. When the query involves outer joins, the planner has less freedom than it does for plain (inner) joins. (The switch-over threshold is set by the geqo_threshold run-time parameter.) The genetic search takes less time, but it won't necessarily find the best possible plan. When there are too many input tables, the PostgreSQL planner will switch from exhaustive search to a genetic probabilistic search through a limited number of possibilities. Beyond ten or so input tables it's no longer practical to do an exhaustive search of all the possibilities, and even for six or seven tables planning might take an annoyingly long time. But the number of possible join orders grows exponentially as the number of tables expands. When a query only involves two or three tables, there aren't many join orders to worry about. Therefore, the planner will explore all of them to try to find the most efficient query plan. (All joins in the PostgreSQL executor happen between two input tables, so it's necessary to build up the result in one or another of these fashions.) The important point is that these different join possibilities give semantically equivalent results but might have hugely different execution costs. Or it could join A to C and then join them with B - but that would be inefficient, since the full Cartesian product of A and C would have to be formed, there being no applicable condition in the WHERE clause to allow optimization of the join. Or it could join B to C and then join A to that result. For example, it could generate a query plan that joins A to B, using the WHERE condition a.id = b.id, and then joins C to this joined table, using the other WHERE condition. The planner is free to join the given tables in any order. SELECT * FROM a, b, c WHERE a.id = b.id AND b.ref = c.id To see why this matters, we first need some background. It is possible to control the query planner to some extent by using the explicit JOIN syntax. 14.3. Controlling the Planner with Explicit JOIN Clauses How Long to Charge a Power Wheels 12 Volt Battery. For a 24-volt battery, you’ll need to get an engine with a suitable usage. The issue arises from purchasing a motor that consumes a large amount of power all at once. Common Issues Following a ConversionĪfter changing 12-volt ride-on vehicles to 24-volt rides, parents may run across a power problem. However, we feel that the modified Power Wheels toy is totally safe to use with youngsters of legal age and under adequate supervision. This technique, unlike the toy’s traditional configuration, has not been submitted to the same amount of safety testing.īy customizing the town on your own, you accept responsibility for your family’s safety. That is true even without the 24V modification, but it is even more true now. You should only do this if you are 100% sure that your kids are old enough to do this.įurthermore, when this toy is in use, we recommend that you keep a watch on your children at all times. Probably, the manufacturer doesn’t want you to do this 24 volt Power Wheels conversion. If you’re reading this, we want to make sure you know that this will make the Power Wheels toy a lot more powerful. Your youngsters should not be allowed to take off with anything flying out of the house! Considerations for Safety Ensure Perfectnessįinal precaution: make certain that all of the car’s contents are properly secured. Doing so will help you to align your positive and negative aspects of yourself. Once you’ve done that, you may connect the black wire to the circuit breaker you purchased. Then, connect the red/white jumper wire to the red/white section of the breaker. Connect the circuit breaker to the motor. Connect the Motor to the BatteriesĪ black and white or black and red cable should emerge from the vehicle and lead to the battery location. Ensure they are not stacked on top of one another and that the motor cables are easily accessible. Examine the hood or trunk for adequate space to secure the two batteries. Remember the golden rule: red to black! 3. It doesn’t matter which is which just make sure you don’t accidentally connect positive to positive or negative to negative. With your two small jumper wires, connect the positive end of one battery to the negative end of the other. Otherwise, you’ll want to clear out a space and gather everything you’ll need in one location. If you have a work table in your garage or basement, it can be an excellent option. Make sure you have all of the parts and tools you’ll need, as well as a clear workspace, before you start this project. That’s when this Power Wheels 24 volt adapter comes in handy! Step-by-Step Instructions for Converting to 24 Volt Power Wheels 1. However, if you have two or three children that prefer to ride on the toy together, the single 12V battery may not be able to keep up. Most of the time, 24V is more than enough. It’s a terrific project to take on as long as you follow the right safety precautions. Then again, as a parent who wants to change your child’s toy, we’re proud of you! Leaving your Power Wheels plaything alone is fine. What is the Best Ride on Toy for a 2 Year Old. To give your child extra speed and power, you may upgrade a 12V ride-on vehicle to a 24V ride-on vehicle. On a 12V ride-on automobile, you can replace a 12V battery with a 24V battery without doing any conversion. Anyways, it can get a bit technical down the line. Overall, the knowledge you’ll gain from this blog post will help in ways, more than one. Moreover, we’ll make the discussion comprehensive and detailed. So, for that purpose, today, we’ll learn about converting power wheels to 24 volt. But, we might be wondering how to convert to a particular voltage rating. They vary in voltage rating (6, 12, 24 Volts), size, shape, etc. Many of us own power wheels of different types. An exciting guide- how to convert power wheels to 24 volt is our topic of the day. Hurricane season starts June 1, which means homeowners and renters need to buy a policy in May to be covered in time for the start of hurricane season. You can purchase flood insurance whenever, but most policies have a 30-day waiting period before the coverage goes into effect. Can I purchase Flood Insurance During Hurricane Season? You can also find a lot of great resources for homeowners located on our website at doi.sc.gov/home. The SCDOI advises homeowners to talk to a trusted, insurance agent or company to discuss what type of coverage is best. How can I find out what coverage I need to purchase? It is a good idea to ask your insurance agent or company to explain the specifics of what your policy covers in this regard. But while standard home insurance doesn't cover flood damage, it generally would provide coverage for additional living expenses if your home was uninhabitable because of wind damage or other perils associated with the flood. Does Flood Insurance cover temporary living expenses? Property owners located in low-to-moderate risk areas should ask a trusted insurance agent or company if they are eligible for the Preferred Risk Policy, which provides flood insurance protection at a lower cost than a standard policy in a high-risk area. NFIP coverage is typically around $700 a year in high-risk areas. It is a good idea to check the maps annually for updates or sign up to receive an alert when your communities’ flood map is updated. As a result, the government is constantly evaluating risks and revising flood maps to keep up with these changes. The way water flows and drains where you live can change due to building development, changing weather patterns, wildfires, or other disasters that alter the terrain. With more than 20 percent of the National Flood Insurance Program’s (NFIP) claims coming from outside high-risk flood areas those who live in areas with low-to-moderate flooding risk should understand their risk and consider flood insurance. Yet, most people don’t realize that their homeowners insurance doesn’t typically cover flood. Flooding is the most frequent and expensive natural disaster in the U.S., according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). It was revealed that the cybercriminals had tried to connect to the company’s network through a VPN using the (presumably stolen) credentials of different users. The company immediately contacted law enforcement and launched an investigation. Four months later, Avast’s experts detected suspicious activity in the corporate network and sounded the alarm. In May 2019, unknown criminals infiltrated Avast’s internal network using a temporary VPN profile that didn’t have two-factor authentication. After the attack was detected, Avast promptly released an update for the utility, revoked the malicious version’s certificate, and contacted everyone affected by stage two of the attack. What’s important to mention is that the first traces of cybercriminal activity on Piriform’s servers date back to April 2017, three months before it was acquired by Avast. Experts later suggested that the Chinese group Axiom (aka APT17) was behind the attack. This malware covertly gave the attackers remote control over their victims’ devices. Stage three: on these four devices they then installed a modified version of ShadowPad. From these 40 devices, the cybercriminals (probably manually this time) picked out the four targets of most interest to them. This way, in stage two, 40 computers were selected. Next, a script running on the command-and-control server selected devices with domain names that suggested their owners work for large IT companies. In stage one, the infected CCleaner was downloaded by more than two million users. The infected solutions were signed with valid digital certificates and hosted directly on the official CCleaner server.įurther investigation showed the attack to be sophisticated, and consisting of at least three stages. And as early as September, Cisco Talos and Morphisec experts found malicious code in the installers of this software. Shortly afterward, on August 15 and 24, new versions of the product were released: CCleaner and CCleaner Cloud 1. In July 2017, Avast bought the British company Piriform, developer of the above-mentioned CCleaner - a popular PC optimization and maintenance solution with a total of two billion downloads (as of 2016). And while to date there’s no evidence of unscrupulous behavior on the company’s part or insecurity of its products, more than a few incidents over the years may make users wonder if Avast solutions can be trusted. Once installed, Avast has access to huge amounts of user data. Thus, when choosing an antivirus, it’s important to pay attention to its reputation. It also has to be in constant contact with the servers to keep the databases up to date. To work effectively, antivirus software needs full access to the given device and its operating system (otherwise it cannot detect and neutralize viruses and other threats). A short while later, independent experts revealed that Avast browser extensions collect users’ data without their knowledge - far more than is necessary for protection.Īnd in the beginning of 2020 it was reported that Avast was sharing users’ data with its subsidiary, Jumpshot, which then sold it to large corporations. But the company’s problems in 2019 didn’t end there. That year, the company reported that its internal network had been compromised by intruders, whose goal was most likely gaining access to that selfsame CCleaner. In 2017, more than two million people downloaded a malware-infected version of CCleaner - one of the company’s solutions.Įven more unfortunate for Avast was 2019. Avast security issuesĪvast has let its users down many a time. That said, over the years Avast has had its fair share of unpleasant incidents, which make many users and experts question how safe their products really are. Independent experts rate them highly too: in the SE Labs test for Q2 2022, for instance, Avast software detected 98% of threats - only slightly worse than both Kaspersky and McAfee, which shared the top spot (100% of threats). Is Avast safe?Īvast solutions are popular with millions of users worldwide. But how safe and reliable are they? In this post we examine why some users are suspicious of Avast, and whether you can still trust this developer’s products. Now part of the multinational company Gen Digital, Avast has reputation for making effective security solutions to combat viruses and other threats. Keep in mind, however, that if your house or your baby’s room runs very warm, she may not need this extra layer. These one-piece outfits come with snaps, a zipper or an elasticized gather at the bottom and are made to cover your little one’s body, but not her head. It’s perfectly okay for a baby to sleep without a blanket, so if yours is under 12 to 18 months, you can keep your sweetie cozy by dressing her in a sleep sack or a wearable blanket sleeper. How do I keep my baby warm without a blanket? Don’t layer another blanket over a swaddled baby, as this loose bedding could cover your baby’s face and increase the risk of suffocation. When can I put my baby to bed swaddled in a blanket and when is it no longer safe?Ĭonfused by the no-blanket policy since babies are often swaddled in a blanket? Don’t worry - it’s okay to swaddle a newborn at night and, in fact, this practice is recommended as a way to calm a cranky baby and promote good sleep.Ī properly wrapped swaddle blanket or a swaddle sleep sack can be used safely from birth until your baby starts trying to roll over (at around 3 or 4 months, but sometimes earlier). Keep in mind that soft bedding is still a no-go even if you plan to place your baby on top of the blanket, rather than under it, since it could still become wrapped around her as she moves in her sleep or gets stuck in the crib corners at night. After 18 months, a thin blanket and a small, special lovey can be used and may even become an important part of the tuck-in routine. So it's better to hold off on covering your baby with a blanket at night or during her naps until she’s at least 18 months old since she could still become tangled in it when she's younger. There is no official age that's been deemed 100 percent safe to use a blanket, quilt or comforter, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), but most medical experts feel that soft bedding poses little danger in the crib to healthy babies after 12 months of age and ideally when they're 18 months or older. In fact, the only thing your baby needs at night is a fitted sheet that’s tucked in tightly on all sides.Īnd don’t be tempted by ads for positioners, wedges, special mattresses or other surfaces that are marketed to reduce the risk of SIDS, as they’ve not been proven to work, could potentially be dangerous and should be avoided. About 3,600 babies in this country die unexpectedly every year while sleeping, and the reasons are often related to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), suffocation, entrapment or strangulation, with blankets increasing the risk of all four.īecause a baby can suffocate under a blanket, the safest sleep environment is a bare crib that’s completely free of comforters, bumpers, pillows, fleece, sheepskin and stuffed toys. Twitter executives didn’t hold an earnings call, citing the company’s pending sale to Elon Musk, but they noted in a press release that “advertising industry headwinds associated with the macroenvironment” contributed to the revenue miss. Social media rival Twitter, which is nearly as dependent on ad dollars, lent that argument some credence Friday morning when it reported second-quarter revenue of $1.18 billion, well short of analyst estimates of $1.32 billion, and down 1% from the year before. About 99% of Snap revenue is generated by ads. Snap executives largely pinned the dour performance and outlook on a rapid pullback among advertisers, who are tightening their purse strings amid a period of economic uncertainty. Those comments sent Snap shares tumbling 39% in mid-day trading Friday, marking the company’s second major stock collapse this year. As a result of the rapidly shifting terrain, Snap officials refused to provide guidance for the current quarter, other than to note that July revenue so far is “approximately flat” year-over-year. Snap’s leadership blamed a fast-deteriorating global advertising market following the release of middling second-quarter results, which fell slightly short of Wall Street’s revenue and earnings estimates. At least, that’s what Snap executives argued Thursday-even if the full forecast might be more complicated than they say. Mark Hake writes about personal finance on and runs the Total Yield Value Guide which you can review here. The opinions expressed in this article are those of the writer, subject to the Publishing Guidelines. Hake did not hold any position (either directly or indirectly) in the securities mentioned in this article. Despite SNAP’s present troubles, expect SNAP stock to be 39% higher within two years from higher free cash flow. That is an excellent return on investment (ROI) for most investors. Even if it takes two years, the average compounded return will still be 17.9% for each of the next two years. Let’s assume that it takes over one year for this price target to hit. So this also implies that even with the lower Q4 estimates, the long-term target price for SNAP stock is $66.68 per share. This means that the $106.7 billion target market value is 39% higher than its $76.6 billion market cap today. But if we determine its future value by using the FCF yield metric - this is a rate that we can use to estimate how valuable its FCF is to the market.įor example, if we divide $1.6 billion in FCF by an FCF yield of 1.5%, the target market cap will be $106.7 billion (i.e, $1.5b/0.15=$106.7b). Right now, SNAP has a market capitalization of $76.64 billion. If revenue doubles to $8 billion by 2023, even with lower iOS ad sales, it is likely that FCF will be much higher as well.įor example, using a 20% FCF margin, we can estimate that FCF will hit $1.6 billion by 2023. These are the same analysts that were upset that that Q3 revenue came in below their forecasts.Īssuming that the company will produce free cash flow at a high margin in two years will allow us to to forecast the stock price. Analysts are still projecting revenue to hit $8 billion in 2023, up from $4.02 billion this year, according to Seeking Alpha. That does not seem too high for a company that will be growing revenue by over 100% by then. That puts SNAP stock on a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) valuation metric of just 35 times. As it stands now, SNAP stock’s valuation is starting to look interesting.įor example, these same analysts now project that earnings in two years will hit $1.35 per share at the end of 2023. Moreover, according to the Seeking Alpha, the Q4 guidance was well below (-13%) analysts’ expectations.īut this just explains why SNAP stock has fallen. For example, according to one analyst at Seeking Alpha, the company’s Q3 revenue was 3% below analyst expectations. Moreover, SNAP still projected that its Q4 revenue would be higher than Q3 revenue, albeit lower than analysts’ prior projections. More importantly, FCF became positive at $52 million in Q3 2021, compared to $70 million in the prior year. Analysts overlooked this in the Q3 earnings release.įor example, operating cash flow was $72 million in Q3 2021, compared to a loss of $55 million in Q3 2020. One reason is that SNAP is now making operating and free cash flow (FCF) profits. |
